I rarely begin with a finished vision. Instead, I spend time quietly studying each piece, waiting for it to reveal what comes next. One bead leads to the next until a personality begins to emerge.

I talk to my mosaics as I create them, much the way I talk to the plants in my garden. They aren't rushed. They unfold over weeks and months, absorbing my time, attention, and a little piece of my life.

By the time a piece is finished, I feel we've come to know each other.
