The Journey Begins

For a long time I thought I was building a website for an art business.

This weekend I realized I was really building something much bigger.

When I chose the name Magic Door, I wasn’t trying to describe what I was making. In fact, I chose it because I didn’t know what “it” was yet. I wanted a name that left room for possibilities—a name that could grow and change as I did.

I didn’t want to box myself into mosaics, classes, or any one creative path. I wanted the freedom to discover where curiosity would lead me.

Looking back, I think Magic Door has been quietly doing exactly that all along.

Sometimes that path becomes a glass bead mosaic. Sometimes it’s teaching a class. Sometimes it’s discovering a quiet cove while kayaking, tending my garden, or experimenting with peaches in the kitchen.

Creativity doesn’t happen only in the studio.

It happens when we’re paying attention.

So this is the beginning of The Journey.

Here I’ll share new artwork, classes, behind-the-scenes moments, unexpected discoveries, and the little things that inspire me along the way. Some posts may be about thousands of tiny glass beads. Others may simply be about a sunrise, a flower in bloom, or an idea that appeared when I wasn’t looking for it.

Magic Door is still becoming.

And if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that the best journeys begin before we know exactly where they will lead.
